The western states dominate the hiking and backpacking scene with wild scenery and massive mountains, when thinking of backpacking trips, the east is too often overlooked. There is something to be said about the ancient forest-covered Appalachians, the young Adirondacks, the eastern seaboard, and White Mountains.
